How to get there
*Opening night reception following April 9th performance
Art meets science in an unusual yet thought-provoking comedy by famed actor/comedian/musician Steve Martin, Picasso at the Lapin Agile. The Lapin Agile is a bar in Paris that is frequented by a number of colorful characters, but on this particular evening in 1904, two young men arrive whose accomplishments would define the twentieth century in a few short years. Their names are Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein. Their discussions of art, science, love, relationships, and the future during the course of the evening are profound, yet border on the absurd. Before the evening ends, they are joined by the third great figure of the century, a country boy who sings rock and roll, who somehow arrives from the future. Picasso at the Lapin Agile is presented through special arrangement with Concord Theatricals. Directed by Mike Manolakes. Disclaimer: Picasso at the LapinAgile contains discussion of adult themes.
This production will be preceded by a one-act performed by Shoestring Readers Theatre, directed by Regina Ford. I"m Herbert, by Robert Anderson, is a sketch about two old people having a discussion while sitting in a pair of rocking chairs and talking, and of course they don't know how funny they are. Each has had one or more previous marriages and perhaps a few flings, but they are hazy as to the details. In fact, they don't always know which one is which.
