How to get there
The Tucson Modern Jazz Quartet aims to transcend one's understanding of jazz via a diverse sonic palette and an exploration of the shared characteristics of jazz in neighboring genres. Blending original compositions with forward-looking interpretations, the Tucson Modern Jazz Quartet pushes the boundaries of the jazz tradition with deep grooves, lush harmonies, and fearless improvisation.
The Tucson Modern Jazz Quartet features founder Keaton Wilson (keys, synthesizer), Zach White (percussion), Patrick Morris (bass), and Trey Bryant (saxophone) playing a mixture of original works as well as "non-standard" standards by the modern new guard (e.g. Robert Glasper, Dave Holland, and Kenny Garrett).
Their new album, 8 Myths, is a vivid journey through eight evocative tracks—each one a sonic take on a different kind of myth, from folkloric funk to surreal electronic lo-fi soundscapes. The album melds modern jazz with elements of funk, fusion, and electronic sound design and features original compositions. Come celebrate a night of myth-making, music, and movement as the TMJQ brings their debut record to life.
