SONORA’S SPIRIT: BACANORA w/ Alex La Pierre of Borderlandia

Dive into the distillation process of Sonora’s Sierra Madres with Borderlandia Director Alex La Pierre during this special presentation. We’ll uncover the roots of agave culture in northwestern Mexico by way of geography, history, and culinary arts. Leave with an understanding of mezcal, tequila, sotol and bacanora and what makes them distinct. You’ll also be able to identify some of the producers, learn about their process, and how some of the brands are now working with environmental groups to protect agave habitats by attending this public program.

Borderlandia was founded as an initiative of binational civil society to build understanding for the natural and cultural diversity of the borderlands. Meaningful and educational cross-cultural enrichment is the organization's primary goal.
